Welcome to the Hong Kong League - HKL!

The Hong Kong China, Ice Hockey Association (HKCIHA) has announced that the official Ice Hockey league will be re-branded as the Hong Kong League (HKL) for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Organized by the HKCIHA, the HKL will be operated by Powerplay Sports & Entertainment Ltd. (PPSE). The HKL is subvented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

This will be the official and highest-level Ice Hockey league in Hong Kong with players who have played in Canadian Major Junior Hockey, NCAA or currently playing on the Hong Kong National Men’s and U18 teams.

There are 4 teams - Aviators, Black Dragons, HK Panda and Toro Bulls. Each team has 2 General Managers - with a combination of one player on the HK National team and one who has played hockey overseas. The idea is the balance the teams through the draft and help the younger players develop.

Game format -

  1. Teams will have 2 pre-season games.
  2. A 15-game regular season.
  3. Playoffs - Best of 3 semi-finals followed by a bronze and gold medal championship game.
  4. Three periods of 20 minutes stop time.
  5. If needed - Overtime - 3 on 3 with no offsides and no icings. 1 player shootout if no OT winner.

The home venue for the HKL will be at the Lohas Rink with two games a night on Monday nights starting at 8:30pm. All games will be streamed on the HKCIHA YouTube channel. Social media accounts include Facebook and Instagram – HKLHockey.
